John Frederick Black M.A., NDD., D.L.C.A.(Hons.), A.T.C. (Dist.), A.T.D., F.F.P.A.A., F.R.S.A
The career of John F Black spans over 40 years. He was born at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire, and was formally trained at Loughborough, Brighton and Manchester Colleges of Art.

A distinguished academic career is now behind him. Devoted as he is to his painting and studio – where paper and canvases fill every space – he still finds time to walk the dogs, enjoy time with his family and instruct other aspiring artists with the benefit of his wealth of knowledge and experience.

Born in Appleby Magna, Leicestershire.
Studied at Loughborough, Brighton, & Manchester Colleges of Art.
1965-68. Head of Art & Design at .St. Edmund’s School.Canterbury.
1968 -93 Senior Lecturer & Head of Department,Bedford College of Physical Education.
1993-97. Head of Art Education. De Montfort University Bedford.
1995 -99. External Examiner for Art .B.Ed., & M.A. at Queen’s University, Belfast, & Anglia University .
1997. Early Retirement to become a Professional Artist.
2000. Founder of the Fellowship of Professional & Amateur Artists.
2003. Prize winner of four National Open Competitions
2004-10. Solo Exhibitions – London, Florida,Tokyo,Rushden, Riseley, Bedford, Wellingborough, Edinburgh, Bath. Kettering,Aldeburgh, Manchester.
2000-2010. Group Exhibitions – Belfast,Winchester Aldeburgh, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Market Harborough, Oundle, Royal Society of Marine Artists – Mall Gallery London, New English Art Club, London, Leicester, Northampton Town & Country Art Society. Bedford Art Society, Fellowship of Professional & Amateur Artists and Milton Keynes.
2010 Awarded F.F.P.A.A.
2010 Appointed Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
2012 Finalist in International Artist competition

His works are in private and public collections in the U.K. and abroad.
